| MISSION
Our mission is to offer a world-class education, empowering
each learner by providing a life experience that inspires the development
of the whole child within a multicultural environment, enabling students
to embrace the diversity of our community both locally and globally. We
also seek to build a culture within which every parent, child and teacher
can work together to achieve mutual respect and productive partnerships.
Island Academy International School opened its doors
to students in September, 2001 at Piccadilly, Antigua. The goal was to
establish an internationally accredited school that was intellectually
rigorous, physically active, culturally engaged and civically responsible,
and that would prepare its students for access to any university in the
world. Since 2001, the school has expanded to include bright and exceptional
students from many nations and backgrounds from Kindergarten through the
I.B. - International Baccalaureate - Diploma, with a globally recruited
and fully-qualified faculty.
Island Academy International School gained accreditation
with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) at the Diploma
Level in early 2009. Island Academy is also accredited with the Ministry
of Education of Antigua and Barbuda. The school is a member of the NAIS
(National Association of Independent Schools), a group representing the
best in quality private school education with 1400 members in the US and
around the world. 2009 saw Island Academy International School also join
the Tri Association, an organization that promotes professional development
for teachers in dozens of International Schools in the Caribbean, Mexico,
Central America and Colombia.
In September 2009, Island Academy International
School moved both the Elementary and the Secondary programs to the new
purpose built facility on 15 acres of prime real estate at Oliver's, located
in central Antigua. This move allows additional space for growth and facilities,
and unifies the entire school on one campus.
